FAQ

WHAT'S MISSION LIVE OCEAN?

Mission Live Ocean is a project that aims to generate attention and awareness for and involvement in the issue of large amounts of plastics floating in the oceans. We would like to raise funds for effectively cleaning up these plastics.

WHO'S BEHIND MISSION LIVE OCEAN?

Three organizations: Mission Live Foundation (MLF), Plastic Soup Foundation and The World Wildlife Fund will be working together for the coming two years.

In these organizations people are concerned about the current situation. Driven by the idea of sustainability, their passion is to work towards practical solutions

WOULD IT NOT BE SMARTER TO PREVENT PLASTIC FROM ENDING UP IN THE OCEAN?

Of course, prevention is better than cure.

However, even if from now on not a single plastic bag would be flushed into the ocean, we would still have the enormous amounts of plastic waste that are already polluting the ocean. If we don’t clean this up, the plastic litter will fall apart into micro plastics. These micro plastics are eaten by plankton and fish and in that way affect our food chain.

WHAT HAPPENS WITH MY DONATION?

The money that is raised by this campaign will go to the Plastic Soup Foundation and the World Wildlife Fund. Eighty percent of every donation is going to these organizations directly, fifteen percent is used to pay for this campaign, the activities and the organization, five percent will be reserved for future campaigns concerning environmental issues.

IS IT A GLOBAL PROJECT?

The project was born in the Netherlands, but ocean polution is a global problem that needs to be solved internationally. That’s why we are teaming up with local, regional and global partnerorganisations.

WHEN WAS MISSION LIVE FOUNDATION FOUNDED?

The first concept was made in 2014 and was adjusted in the final months of that year.

This was followed by the writing of an overall concept, which outlined five areas of attention that could serve as a theme for our goal to support a sustainable future: Ocean, Mountain, Desert, Arctic and Jungle.

We set up this foundation because we wish to highlight the topics of Sustainability. We would like to point out its importance and we wish to inspire people to be involved in solutions and therefore to practically support solving the issue.

WHY?

There’s a big need to promote sustainability to a broad audience. We chose to inpsire people and get them involved.

WHAT IS MISSION LIVE FOUNDATION’S AIM?

By organizing subsequent, leading and inspiring multi media projects around sustainability, Mission Life Foundation aims to increase involvement in the concept of sustainability, both nationally and internationally, and wishes to encourage manageable innovations.

WHO IS IN THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS?

– Dennis Klawer
– Evert Jansen
– Paul Linders
– Roderick Reetra

The Board is supported by an official accountant’s office in Hilversum.

The foundation has a supervisory board, directed by mr. Dick Flink, in order to guarantee corporate governance.

Why do these people hold these positions?

Given the objectives and mission of the organization, the board forms a good mix of professional knowledge, expertise, experience and networks.

THERE IS AN ADVISORY COUNCIL TOO. WHAT IS THEIR ROLE?

The Advisory Council offers (un)solicited advice to the board of directors and project teams, concerning overall content and form. The Advisory council is led by one board member and is frequently expanded to add extra expertise in several topics when needed.

WHY IS SUSTAINABILITY THIS IMPORTANT?

Sustainability effects the survival of the earth directly. It’s all about NOW, and especially with regards to the FUTURE. By now this mindset has become part of our collective consciousness, but it takes more than a general appeal to transform knowledge into behavioral change. We need trendsetters who in their own way provide a sexy image to the cause of sustainability.

HOW DO I BECOME A PARTNER?

As you can see, everyone can become a partner. There will be strategic partners for all five themes, but some partners support us exclusively in one of these themes. To make things easy, we call them theme-partners.

What is the difference?

A strategic partner is involved in Mission Live for a longer period (several subsequent years) and is responsible for filling in all theme-associated projects, in addition to the project teams filling in one of the five themes.
